Chapel of Bones - is one of the best known chapels of Évora and is located in the Church of St. Francis, built on the initiative of three Franciscan monks in the seventeenth century. The entrance reads a warning that intends to remind us of the transience of life: “We bones that we are here, for yours we wait.”
The walls and the eight pillars are lined with bones and skulls, and the vaults with allegorical motifs to death.
