Tour Description
Commerce Square (or Terreiro do Paço) - was for two centuries the place where the Palace of Kings of Portugal was. The Ribeira Palace and its library, with about 70,000 volumes, were destroyed by the 1755 earthquake.
Next to the river is the Cais das Colunas, with the marble steps, being considered the entrance of Lisbon.
Alfama - considered to be the birthplace of fado, this narrow-street neighborhood was once inhabited by aristocrats and later by many fishermen.
This neighborhood is known not only for the popular Santos celebrations, but also for the Fado houses and restaurants.
Walking these streets is simply enjoyable. Watching the old houses and imagining the centuries of history that this place has, is just one of the most rewarding moments along this tour.
Bairro Alto - one of the oldest and most typical neighborhoods of Lisbon, with narrow streets and secular houses. Until the twentieth century, the headquarters of the main newspapers were installed there. With its shops, restaurants and bars, Bairro Alto comes to life at night with countless people from various generations. It is worth walking along these streets and feeling the atmosphere of this neighborhood so typical of the city.
