Tour Description
Mata Pequena Village - In this place, tranquility and tradition are two of the features that make this village so special. Here we can relive or learn the traditions of the local people for many years. A village that will be in our memory.
Mafra National Palace - There will be much to say about this monument, consisting of a palace and a monastery. Ordered by D. João V in the eighteenth century, in fulfillment of a promise, is undoubtedly the greatest work of his reign. The whole set deserves a visit, including the Library which, besides its grandeur, contains over 36,000 volumes. Just imagine the number of people, from the workers who laid all the stones to form this complex, to the sculptors and architects who made this monument unique. A must visit.
Aldeia do Sobreiro - was created by José Franco, a potter who wanted to realize his dream by reproducing the way of life of the ancient populations of this place, which was their land, their activities, their customs. In addition to the miniatures of houses and inhabitants, it is composed of spaces that are replicas of workshops and shops of those ancient times. We can not miss visiting the museum with the exhibition of figures that José Franco created, as well as the cellar where you can taste the wine of the region, and a bakery where you can buy the famous chorizo bread.
Ericeira - Another village full of history. Legend has it that the name of the village means "land of hedgehogs". Village very linked to fishing, had a great commercial development in the 19th century, due to its port. It was from the port of Ericeira that the royal family left for exile, marking the end of the monarchy.
This region has several beaches well known for the large amount of iodine and also due to the large waves that allow surfing, being the first surf reserve in Europe and the second in the world. Here are some of the reasons not to miss this beautiful village.
Colares - is a popular village as a summer resort. Here also the well-known Colares wine is produced. Nearby are some magnificent beaches: Praia das Macas, Praia da Adraga, Praia Grande and Azenhas do Mar, a village built on the rock and with a stunning landscape.
Cascais - the village has for some years been considered an important tourist destination. Surrounded by beautiful beaches, and with the sea and the old palaces as the main scenario, it is a beautiful way to end this tour, which will no doubt leave memories that will remain in your memory forever.
